It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a group of college students in possession of a lengthy list of must see films, must be in want of time to do anything besides watch them each evening. Four evenings ago, this was once again the case for many of the students at Gator Wesley as we delved into our third movie selection of the summer, Pride and Prejudice. Starring Keira Knightley as Miss Elizabeth Bennet, and Matthew Macfayden as Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, the movie did not fail to deliver most of the wit, tension, and romance found in the actual novel, while staying as true to Jane Austen's original ideas as a typical length movie could. Equally refreshing was the fact that the movie's soundtrack was composed of more than two grossly overused songs, and its dialogue consisted of more than two grossly overused lines, two of the biggest pitfalls of the last two movies.
David Fuquay says, "I like me some Keira."
Kelly Haskins says, "Nobody listens to Andrew." (Which means, according to Kelly's logic, no one will read this blog post. If you have read this far, you have only helped to further prove Kelly's logic often borders on the illogical. Thank you.)
Angielina says, "Never start a proposal with telling a woman what's wrong with her."
Kellia says to Kelly (via text), "You are the first woman in the world I would ever be prevailed upon to marry."
The Great Summer Movie List 2011
Gator Wesley watches all those movies that we should have seen, but probably haven't. EPIC SUMMER GO!

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
For our next feature, we decided to venture into the classy classics category.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
This film, starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman, delves into all that made America great in the wild west, including train robbery, Burt Bacharach, everlasting bromance, escaping to Bolivia, and taking a lady out for a ride on your handlebars.
The dulcet tones of "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head" perfectly accompany the stunning scenery, non-violent bank robbery, and mysterious ending of the (mostly) true story of these two colorful men.
Drew says
"A great feel good movie...until they die. Also I love the South American getaway music. Maranatha should do it."
Alex says
"At least they don't shoot gangster-style."
Kelly says
"A mustache doesn't really work on Robert Redford."
Jorge says
"Translating all of the Spanish for you guys is kind of ruining the suspense."
Generally enjoyed by all, the group gives Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid a thumbs up.

Top Gun
Last night we made the first venture into our extreme summer movie list.
Top Gun.
Tom Cruise, bromances, airplanes and missiles, big hair, motorcycles, and beach volleyball...
Clearly, Top Gun fell into the "Epic Man Movie" category of our summer movie list.
The emotional score was made up almost entirely of the songs "Danger Zone" and "Take My Breath Away," interspersed with tear-wrenching electric guitar solos.

Laurie says:
As a whole, our group enjoyed Top Gun, but probably only because it was so easy to make fun of.
Good job, Tom and Val!

Kelly says:
Drew Miller is a terrible person and always makes fun of Goose dying.Sarah says:
Val Kilmer looks exactly like my ex-boyfriend, which was creepy. How come he turned out to be a good guy?
Drew says:
The Goose is cooked!
Angielina says:
........sooooo much tongue jousting.
Alex says:
It was very predictable, mostly because I've seen it.
Laurie says:
Crest Whitestrips. Seriously, guys.
As a whole, our group enjoyed Top Gun, but probably only because it was so easy to make fun of.

We are a group of United Methodist college students, and this summer we are striving to watch many of the important classic (and sometimes cheesy) movies of the past 30 or so years.
The most important criteria for our great movie list was that at least one member of our group had to have not seen the movie.
This is our blog.
Enjoy!
